Truk Odyssey is a very comfortable and spacious liveaboard equipped to offer everything that a diver requires and more. The usual itinerary offers superb diving on wrecks that can be enjoyed within recreational limits though this includes plenty of opportunities for wreck penetration and decompression diving as well. For guests hoping to explore the wrecks that lie beyond recreational range it is possible to arrange technical itineraries as part of a group charter. Availability on board the Odyssey can be limited so it's best to book early. Many cruise dates are fully booked a year or more in advance.
The Odyssey carries a maximum of 16 passengers in nine staterooms. All staterooms are fully air-conditioned with en-suite facilities as well a port holes or windows. Seven staterooms can be configured as two single beds, or one king-sized bed. there are also two staterooms with one single bed. The air-conditioned, the salon has plenty of space for everyone to dine together or enjoy the the detailed wreck briefings offered for each site while you enjoy a drink and a snack form the self service bar. Full windows on either side of the boat give the dining salon a light and airy atmosphere. There is also a comfortable entertainment lounge, equipped with a large bettery charging station, and a partially shaded sundeck.
A continental breakfast selection of cereals, fruit and juices is available every morning, with a hot breakfast cooked to order. Diverse buffet style lunches and dinners are served each day along with delicious between dive snacks.
You will be assigned your own seat and dive locker on the dive deck for the duration of the trip. Tanks are filled, at your seat and there is a large carpeted table for camera gear. Dives are normally conducted from the mothership. The Odyssey is equipped with a diver lift and a ladder so getting out of the water is very easy, even with a lot of gear. Two freshwater camera rinse tanks are just a few steps from the dive deck and clean towels await you after every dive. A full range of diving equipment is available for rental by pre-arrangement. Nitrox fills up to 30% are included in the cost for divers with Nitrox certification. Courses offered on the boat include Advanced Open Water, Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Photographer and Nitrox certification.
There are no set routines and guests are welcome to plan their own dive profiles. The day begins around 0630 with the first briefing around 0730. The Odyssey will generally visit two or three sites per day giving ample time for two recreational dives or one long technical dive on most sites. Night dives are offered each evening where possible.
Truk Odyssey offers guests a choice of a a 10 litre Aluminium cylinder or a 15 Litre steel cylinder as standard these can be configured for DIN or A-Clamp. A range of cylinders including manifolded twin sets and ponies, for decompression or redundancy are also available. Oxygen mixes from 31%-99% are available to suitably certified divers for an additional fee. Odyssey can also look after rebreather divers by prior arrangement. Trimix is available but please discuss your requirements in advance to ensure sufficient supplies for your trip. There is limited rental equipment for technical diving so guests are advised to bring their own wings, slings and regulators where possible or make any requests for equipment rental in advance.
